EXPLORER'S LOG

Terms of Use

Effective date: 5/12/2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern access to and use of Explorer’s Log, available at https://explorerslog.net and any related pages, features, content, and services we provide through the app (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

1. Eligibility and Accounts

You must comply with applicable law when using the Service.

Certain features may require a logged-in account. Accounts may be created or accessed either through site-managed credentials or through supported third-party authentication providers that we make available.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for activity that occurs under your account.

2. Description of the Service

Explorer’s Log is an exploration tracker and journal for role playing games. Depending on how the Service is made available on a site, users may be able to:

  • create and edit gameplay notes, journal entries, tracker data, and settings;
  • save data locally in the browser when using preview or guest mode;
  • save data to the site’s account features when logged in; and
  • upload images to the site’s media library if the site administrator has enabled that functionality for the user account.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice.

3. Google Sign-In

The Service may allow you to sign in using your Google account. If you choose to use Google sign-in, you authorize us to receive certain account information from Google, which may include your name, email address, profile image, and a Google account identifier, depending on the permissions and configuration in effect at the time of sign-in.

We use Google account information only as reasonably necessary to authenticate you, create or maintain your account, secure access to the Service, and operate related account features.

Your use of Google sign-in is also subject to Google’s own terms, policies, and settings. We are not responsible for Google’s services and do not control Google’s independent processing of your information.

If your Google connection is revoked, restricted, or unavailable, your ability to access the Service through Google sign-in may be affected. We may require you to use another supported login method, if available, to continue accessing your account.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of text, images, and other content you submit to the Service (“User Content”), subject to the rights needed for us to operate the Service.

By submitting User Content, you grant Explorer’s Log a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, adapt, display, and transmit that User Content solely as needed to operate, secure, improve, and provide the Service.

You represent and warrant that:

  • you own or control the necessary rights to your User Content;
  • your User Content does not infringe or violate any third-party rights;
  • your User Content does not include unlawful, defamatory, abusive, harassing, or malicious material; and
  • any files you upload are free of malware and other harmful code to the best of your knowledge.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service in violation of any law or regulation;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, data, or systems;
  • upload malicious code, spam, or content intended to damage the Service or others;
  • use the Service to infringe intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights; or
  • reverse engineer, scrape, or exploit the Service except as permitted by applicable law.

We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or created risk for the Service or other users.

6. Data Storage and Availability

The Service may operate in more than one storage mode:

  • In preview or logged-out mode, certain data may be stored only in the current browser using local storage.
  • In logged-in mode, certain data may be stored in WordPress user-specific storage or other account-linked storage associated with the active account.
  • If image upload features are enabled for a user, uploaded images may be stored in the site’s media library.

You are responsible for keeping your own backups of important content. We do not guarantee that any data will always be available, retained, recoverable, or error-free.

7. Privacy

Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy. To the extent there is a conflict between these Terms and the Privacy Policy regarding personal information, the Privacy Policy will control.

8. Ads, Donations, and Third-Party Payments

The Service may display advertising, including advertising served by third-party providers such as Google AdSense, if enabled.

The Service may also include voluntary donation or tip links through third-party platforms such as Ko-fi, PayPal, Stripe, or similar services. Unless we expressly state otherwise, donations or tips are voluntary contributions made to support the operation of the Service and are not payments in exchange for memberships, guaranteed benefits, digital goods, or other services.

Any donation, tip, or payment transaction made through a third-party platform is governed by that platform’s own terms, privacy policy, payment processing practices, fees, and dispute procedures. We are not responsible for the independent operation of those third-party services.

We may add, remove, or change advertising, donation, or other monetization features at any time.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, text, graphics, and other non-user content, is owned by Explorer’s Log, or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

These Terms do not grant you ownership of the Service or any related intellectual property. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use the Service for its intended purpose.

10. Game-Related Names and Fan Project Status

The Service may reference third-party game titles, names, or related materials to support user-created tracking and journal features. Unless expressly stated otherwise, Explorer’s Log is an independent fan-made software project and is not sponsored by, endorsed by, or affiliated with any game publisher, developer, or platform holder.

All third-party trademarks, service marks, and game-related property remain the property of their respective owners.

11. Feedback

If you submit suggestions, ideas, or feedback about the Service, you agree that we may use them without restriction or compensation to you.

12. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, accurate, complete, or free from errors, viruses, or harmful components.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Explorer’s Log and its affiliates, licensors, service providers, and representatives will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenues, goodwill, or business opportunities, arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the total liability of Explorer’s Log for all claims arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of:

  • the amount you paid, if any, to use the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

14. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Explorer’s Log and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of or related to:

  • your use of the Service;
  • your User Content; or
  • your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

15. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time.

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, if we believe it is necessary to protect the Service, comply with law, or address misuse, security issues, or violations of these Terms.

If your account uses Google sign-in, termination or deletion of your Google-linked access does not necessarily delete content you created in the Service unless we expressly state otherwise in our Privacy Policy or deletion workflow.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and governing law provisions.

16. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of [State/Country], without regard to conflict of laws principles.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in [Venue], and you consent to personal jurisdiction and venue there, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version and update the effective date above. Your continued use of the Service after the updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
