Today’s update brings a few new changes to the Explorer’s Log.
New Life Forms Tab
First of all, Life Forms have been broken out into a separate tab:
This allows you, if you like, to track flora and fauna in more detail as you encounter them and add them to your planets as you populate discovery data for each. Flora/fauna added directly into a planet should also cross-populate to the Life Forms tab, although not with as much detail as if it was entered directly there.
If you prefer, you can also just track the number of each that you find, as you’ve always been able to. So, if you’re interested in tracking the details you can, if you just want the summary, that’s available too.
New Subnautica 2 Profile
As many others out there, I’ve been waiting patiently for Subnautica 2. Since the Explorer’s Log was built with the intent of being multi-game capable, Subnautica 2 seemed like the perfect first additional game profile to add.
To get to the Subnautica 2 profile, you can go into Settings and select the game from the dropdown at the top.
Or, select the game from the home page and click Launch:
The look of the Subnautica 2 profile is the same, but the terminology is adapted to be more appropriate for Subnautica 2. Systems in Starfield become Regions, Planets become Biomes etc.
These changes are live as of August 18th.
I’ll note that since I’m still exploring Subnautica 2, I’m sure there are other aspects of the game that can be capture, or that can be captured differently. As such, you can expect changes as I learn more about the game myself so don’t be surprised if new things come and go, although I’ll do my best to communicate that before it actually happens.
You can expect a few little bugs here and there as I clean up logos and stuff but overall it should all be usable.
